Shipping Your Motorcycle
We can arrange fast and secure shipping for almost any motorcycle. Popular options include container shipping (FCL or LCL), air cargo, or RoRo/ferry for rideable bikes.
Classic & Collectible Motorcycles – Duty & VAT Relief
Older motorcycles can qualify for reduced or zero import duty and a reduced 5% VAT rate if they meet HMRC criteria for collectors’ vehicles (heading 9705).
Main requirements:
- Generally at least 30 years old.
- In original condition with no substantial modifications (repairs and sympathetic restoration are usually acceptable).
- Must be of historical, ethnographic, or collectible interest.
Classic car/motorcycle insurance can help support your application, but it is not always sufficient on its own.
To confirm eligibility, we strongly recommend applying for a Binding Tariff Information (BTI) decision from HMRC before shipping. This gives you a legally binding ruling on duty and VAT rates.
Modern motorcycles (under 30 years) are normally subject to standard import duty (around 6–10% depending on type) + 20% VAT.
